WordPress 2.8
I tried doing the automatic install of WordPress 2.8 a couple of days ago but it refused to work. So I did it manually. Two problems then existed…
- The TinyMCE editor (for editing posts) didn’t work
- My Last.FM plugin was showing an error
The second one, well, I’m still working on that. The first, however, has been resolved by a forum post. Simply open up the file wp-config.php and add the following line near the top…
define( 'CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false );
This worked for me and appears to be working for others as well (although on the forum many people have incorrectly come to the conclusion that files are missing when, in fact, they’ve simply been renamed in recent WordPress additions).
I suspect the Last.FM issue is specific to that plugin. However, there is a known problem where the automated install can also cause the same error. Of course, in my case, I did it manually so the problem should no longer exist. Ho hum, I guess that’s what you get for upgrading early ![]()
Update 18/06/2009
There is now a message on the Last.fm plugin site stating…
I know the plugin show a nasty error with WordPress 2.8, I am on it, but seems a internal bug (with the HTTP REQUEST API). I have open a bug in the trac system, and I hope to solve this issue soon. Thanks for your patience…
Update 22/06/2009
The issue has now been fixed – you can either wait for the next revision of WordPress (yes, it’s the fault of WordPress!) or visit the Last.fm plugin site and download the appropriate file.

Considering how regularly new versions of Firefox now come along, that's quite some bug fix list in version 10!
