This post was written 1 year 11 months 14 days days old, so is a bit old now. Feel free to read and comment on this post, just remember some things change with time and any facts in this post may not be accurate anymore.The latest version of Xmarks for Firefox has added a new feature where, in the status bar at the bottom of the browser window, there are 5 stars, allowing you to easily rate websites that you visit. Unfortunately, they’re a bit of an “estate” hog and can only be turned off along with the Xmarks icon (which is useful for quick synchronisation). However, there is a way to turn off just the rating stars…
- Enter
about:configin the Firefox address bar - Right click in the main screen area
- Select
New->Boolean - Type
extensions.xmarks.hideStatusBarStarsand press Enter - Select the value
true
This will forever banish the stars. If you want to bring them back…
- Enter
about:configin the Firefox address bar - Find the value
extensions.xmarks.hideStatusBarStars - Set it to
false

Considering how regularly new versions of Firefox now come along, that's quite some bug fix list in version 10!
