Flash is dead, also Adobe declared this.
Sooner it wil disappear from sites better will be, in my clients sites it doesn’t exists since two years ago.
What I need is cross browser displaying, full mobile support and responsive behavior.
If this will be united to a powerful and simple-to-set plugin, should be the best.
Thanks for sharing it.

Unfortunately, right now, a large proportion of users are using the Flash only embedding. As much as I’d love to try and force people to “see the light” I might end up losing a lot of my users by forcing IFRAME only embedding.
Personally, I think EmbedPlus is dead – the developers don’t appear to be doing anything with it anymore and it adds few features that I think warrants its use (and old styling).
But do I risk the wrath of users and jettison object embedding? Personally, I can’t see any advantage in using it and nobody has told me anything otherwise.
I use Embed Plus because it’s the only player that includes a link back to YouTube, for those wanting to view the video in a larger format – as my WP main content area is narrow. Otherwise, EmbedPlus is actually not my ideal choice. Why? Because it has all these other controls, that no one really needs or even understands. So, if you would find a way to leave the YouTube (and also the full screen option) on the simpler player, I would be perfectly satisfied with that – instead of the EmbedPlus player.
Thanks for the feedback Tim – it’s always appreciated.
Can I just get clarification on something. When you say “it has all these other controls”, are you referring to the administration options or the actual YouTube player itself?
I think you’re referring to the latter – in which case, what options do you think it should default to that you think are simpler? I’m genuinely interested in this, so if I can provide a simpler option I will.
What it does have, and the only reason I would use it, are the choose quality, view full screen, and YouTube (view On YouTube, instead of on my website) options – on the player itself.
Besides, the EmbedPlus player is not compatible with iOS devices.
The full screen and view on YouTube options are available on the standard player too. The HD option isn’t though – YouTube picks this automatically now.
I’ll look at the default settings for new installations and ensure that the player appears as it would on YouTube with no further changes, to ensure the simplest set-up.
Hi,
could you implent at tweak or sth like this, to switch automatticly to HD? This would be really nice but the API doesn’t support it. On this Google-Page (https://developers.google.com/youtube/youtube_player_demo) you can switch the quality so it’s coming automatic.
Correct. There’s a lot of confusion over what AS2 and AS3 is. It’s not using the OBJECT method of embedding, but simply a version of the Flash player that YouTube use. You can therefore use AS2 with IFRAME. If Flash is available AS2 Flash player will be used, otherwise HTML5.
The HD option is only available with AS2. With AS3 it’s supposed to pick it automatically. Even with AS2/HD option it still only picks it if suitable.
Hey, i’ve found out something: If you add ?vq=hd720 (or small, medium large, hd1080) the video will play from the beginning – without clicking – in the resolution you’ve specified. I’ve tested it with the iFrame player in Flash and HTML5, both has worked. So it would be really cool if you could add an option in the settings page to play all videos in HD (or 480p).
He would be a proposal of mine. Let there be a skin that selecting may be what would look some other way, than the youtube player and everybody may customize it, for example the colours and it would be possible to put it into the right down pole, where the controls is a web page logo

Come on OBJECT embedders – why are you using it?
David.

I was referring to the actual player itself.
EmbedPlus has all these features I DON’T want..

Many thanks for the great support David.

That option uses the deprecated AS2 YouTube player – it’s no longer available in the current version as it’s supposed to select it automatically.
David.
Nope, it’s the iFrame player.

I hope this clarifies it a little more.

Thanks for that. It’s not officially documented so I’ll look into it, test it out and, if it works, include it as you suggest.
David.
